愛媛県砥部町を中心に生産される陶磁器で、約240年の歴史を持つ伝統工芸です。江戸時代中期、地元産の砥石粘土を利用して日用雑器の生産が始まり、その後、白磁を主体とした陶磁器へと発展しました。
This is a traditional craft with a history of about 240 years, produced mainly in Tobe-cho, Ehime Prefecture. In the mid-Edo period, the production of daily utensils began using locally produced whetstone clay, and later developed into ceramics mainly made of white porcelain.
特徴
厚手で丈夫なつくりと、呉須(ごす)と呼ばれる藍色で描かれた手描きの模様です。伝統的な模様には草花や動物、幾何学模様があり、素朴で温かみのあるデザインが魅力です。主に食器や花器が多く作られており、実用性と美しさを兼ね備えています。
The features include a thick and durable construction, along with hand-painted patterns in indigo blue known as "Gosu." Traditional designs feature motifs such as flowers, animals, and geometric patterns, characterized by their rustic and warm appeal. These items are primarily crafted as tableware and vases, combining practicality with aesthetic beauty.
